SCOTTY MAC BAND
Scott McLaughlin grew up in a small Southern California town surrounded by dairy farms, ranches and horse shows. Scott’s love for music began when he was first introduced to the music of classic rock legends Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers Band. His love for country music took off when he received his first guitar from his father at 13. By high school Scott began writing and performing his own music. While attending college as a California State-Long Beach 49er, Scott continued to hone in on his craft, forming several bands and actively performing across Southern California. Ultimately encouraged by his parents, Scott took a leap of faith and dedicated all of his time and efforts toward pursuing a music career.
The risk proved worth it as Scott formed the Scotty Mac Band in 2014 – the six piece, high energy,
contemporary country band he fronts today. The band’s early rapid success led to the group traveling down to Nashville in November 2014 to record their debut EP, Messin Around. The EP stylistically blends the contemporary sounds of modern country with the traditional instrumentation and story telling lyrics of the genre’s roots.
“I love the current sound of country but I would like to see the traditional country instrumentation get brought back into it and I would like to see the element of good story telling return. Right now it’s a lot of party music and that’s all good fine, every one wants to be pumped up and have a good time, but it would be nice to see the stories (happy or sad) come back,” said McLaughlin.
2015 was an exciting year, with the band performing at major country music festivals and opening for national touring country acts, such as Chris Young, Easton Corbin, Parmalee, Jake Owen, Darius Rucker, Joe Nichols, Luke Bryan, Brett Eldredge, Cam, Old Dominion, and Rascal Flatts. 2016 is off to a huge start with the band performing as the Opening Act for Chase Bryant in February. Several main stage festival appearances are already booked.
